Antique Pocket Watch Association

Can anyone tell me about this old / antique pocket watch?
I'm sure it's a watch Smiths Empire, directed in the 60s. The little information I could get online said that the "Made in Britain" tag on the bottom face said it had probably been made generally in association with Ingersoll, who had a share of shares in Smiths. Beyond for I know nothing about the watch, except that a liquidation and works perfectly. Not interested in any monetary value, just over interested in the history of the issue and making production more exact date. Pic: http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/9637/smithswatch1960s.jpg
This is This is called a watch dollar. Basically, they were made in large quantities by companies like Ingersoll and Westclox. They used bearings metal bearings rather than more expensive jewelry in better watches. They also used a pin-lever escapement imprecise, rather than the somewhat complicated, but very accurate, lever escapement used in better watches. They are called "dollar watches" because, when new, they were $ 1 or somewhere around that price. Although inexpensive and not too precise, they were always reliable and durable. I have a couple of them, and when properly regulated, will keep time less than 5 minutes a day. Even if it is not large (7 cheap jewelry watches U.S. can do much better), it is still pretty impressive considering how small of an error it takes to shake the timing of Mechanical watch a huge amount. I think Ingersoll stamped with the date of production in the upper plate of the movement. Pop the back off, and it should be there somewhere. It is certainly a fine looking watch. The monetary value is not much (Ingersoll made over 100,000,000 hits) but it is an interesting piece of history and holding dollars.
