Have you liquidate a quartz watch?

I have a friend who tries to sell me a watch. He says it's an Elgin pocket watch antique but says it is a quartz watch. I have not seen it yet but says he must put it into liquidation. Can I correct in saying that is quartz? Have they never make a quartz watch that winded up, is that something you ought to watch with mechanical movements?

Winding is something you do with mechanical movements. Quartz movements operate on a low battery. It may be misled by the button the watch that is used to define the exact time. You can tell if you see the watch works. A quartz watch will advance the second hand in a second step. A mechanical watch will tick and advance the second hand in 3-6 steps per second.
