The Pocket Watch: A link to the past

My grandfather had a gold pocket watch that had been sent to him by his own grandfather. The surface was smooth and shiny and cool and it was wonderful to the touch. He had a slight smell that I always associated only with him, a smell that was both nostalgic and romantic. He spoke of simpler, more convenient time, perhaps. Whenever my grandfather handled only shows beautiful his eyes seemed to mist over the thoughts and images that come to be out of reach, a treasure of memories.

I still young when my grandfather died and, unfortunately, I never knew what became of this watch. Of course, as a child, I had a passing interest in such things, but now that I'm older, I find myself attracted a lot of what my grandfather stood for. It was a man of great integrity, a man in all things, and someone who always seems to know how to behave in any situation. He dressed quickly, but never in a way that drew attention to his appearance or looks as if trying to take air. And, of course, there were those little touches chic is defined, as this pocket watch.
