Can I bring photographic equipment to play the Rangers at Madison Square Garden?

I want to bring a digital SLR camera with a pair of lenses in a camera bag for the game tomorrow night. I did not think until I talked to a friend and they told me said cameras are not allowed in the garden. I do not think so because if you watch hockey on TV, there are always a flash of the crowd, but it is easy to point and shoot into your pocket and walk in. Carrying a DSLR is a bit more visible. Does anyone know if I am allowed to do this or how can I know? Thank you!
