Is there a special way to close a pocket watch?

I’ve heard that your not supposed to close a pocket watch using your hands but to press down on the open button and then close it to make the springs last longer and to ensure longer last for the pocket watch.
I’ve tried this and it is quite a hassle, does this actually help?
