German Vintage Watch?
I was recently given a vintage Luftwaffe Waffen SS wristwatch, watch beautiful German pilots used during World War 2. My question is about the inscriptions on the dial. The outer ring is a few minutes of standard marks (5,10,15, 20, etc.) However, the inner ring carries the same markings as mirror (5,01,51,02, etc.) What is the reason for this mirror marking system? I was told its because the narrow cockpit of the aircraft a few meant the pilot could read the look in a mirror. Is this true?
My proposal is the watch can be read in the reflections in the dashboard. The light panel enlighten the dial and the pilot could read the instrument and see the reflection shows (enlightened) way, and easy to read time, at the same time.
