Waltham Pocket Watch

How do I set my stem wind pocket watch?
I have a waltham pocket watch that is stem wind stem set. However when I go to pull on the stem I’m not sure how much force I should apply. I don’t want to over wind my watch and I don’t want to rip the stem off so does anyone have a ruff guess on how much force to apply?
You should be able to feel, like a click, when the stem has moved to the setting position. If you use the thumb and first or second finger of the hand that is holding the watch to pull on the stem, it’s almost impossible to pull too hard. The same applies to winding it – you’ll be able to feel the difference when the watch is fully wound and holding in this manner makes it very difficult to overtorque.
