Wristwatch History

What is the history of which arm to wear a bracelet?
Normally, a person wears the bracelet on the opposite arm of their writing. But it is not really important. Where did it start the tradition?
It is not that complicated. You wear the watch on your nondominant hand, because you do not want it to break or get in the way while you do things with the dominant hand.
