how can i get my website indexed and what will get my site maximum hits?

i recently designed a website on ms office2007 and for a novice i’d say its not too bad, i bought a domain and a host package from 123-reg and everything has gone smooth, when i type my web in to the http:// box the site comes up, however when i search it on any search site like google or yahoo nothing appears. please help
another this, if i do get the indexing problem sorted how would i go about marketing my website to make it more visible to the wristwatch industry my site is www.yougotthetime.co.uk
