Wristwatch Which Hand

Automatic or hand-wind?

My father is 60 years and "m thinking to get him a mechanical wristwatch. Should I go for a box automatic or manual wind vintage practice? Who would be more likely to impress uppity white folk?

What about the wind when that he moves his hand … I know that Rolex watches like this … but I am sure there are other cheaper brands that do the same thing.
